Whether we are for it or are opposed to it, we have been living in the midst of one of the most significant ongoing “MEGATRENDS” to affect mankind and the makeup of the world. That trend is GLOBALIZATION!!!
GLOBALIZATION!!! can be defined as the constant evolution and emergence of “FLOW” across international boundaries. The flow consists of just about everything, ranging from goods and services, food, medicine, technology, information, politics, culture, along with people and COOPERATION OF ALL TYPES…..that’s globalization.

In “Freeing” up the flow of trade, many Americans are very concerned about the ”Outsourcing” of jobs to other countries. While displaced workers can easily point to their job going to a call center in India, or to a factory in China, the largest contributor to job reduction in industrialized countries is the “Increased productivity” that TECHNOLOGY fosters. The efficiencies that are created by technology provide for less demand for low skilled labor. Products are produced requiring fewer people, fewer man hours, fewer raw materials, and often less TIME.
The RAPID FLOW OF INFORMATION, aided by such factors as the INTERNET, E-mail, air “courier/small shipment”, FAX, realtime global communication, Instant Messaging and video conferencing, has reduced and oftentimes ‘annihilates’ the time necessary to connect different countries.
Therefore the distance or space separating two points on earth has undergone some serious compression, making for a MUCH SMALLER WORLD than we used to know. In these and many other ways we have moved towards “Globalization”.
There are some ENORMOUS BENEFITS TO THIS GIGANTIC TREND AND MOVEMENT

A vast reduction in worldwide poverty – over the last twenty years, the gap between ‘rich’ and ‘poor’ has narrowed greatly, as has the number of people living in ‘poverty’.
The Promotion of Efficiency – By allowing countries to sell/export that which they specialize in. On the flip side, businesses and “countries” import that which they produce less efficiently.
Increased foreign competition is a powerful incentive for domestic manufacturers and countries to innovate and become more competitive.
Globalization provides for a more effective allocation of resources for the planet.
